The Polar Geophysical Simulation Lab (PGSL) is working towards understanding the complex interactions between ice, water, and climate in Earth's polar regions.

The overarching questions we are addressing include:

  • What are the implications of changing ice dynamics for ice sheet mass balance and sea-level rise?
  • How do surface meltwater and subglacial hydrology influence ice dynamics and glacier motion?
  • How do ice-ocean processes affect the stability of ice shelves and marine-terminating glaciers?
  • How can we integrate geophysical observations with numerical models to better understand and predict the behavior of Earth's ice sheets?
